Baton Rouge, La. 7/2/2003 - This "web-subsection site" of LSPS is established to promote the Four Year Degree Surveying Program of Louisiana in the framework of the Geomatics Degree program of Nicholls State University, Thibodaux, La.
In March of this year, President Cavell announced the establishment of this program. Use the following link for his correspondence.

[edit] SUMMER INTERN PROGRAM
Each year during the summers between Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior years the students in the Geomatics program at Nicholls State University will need placement for Internship with professionals practicing in industry. LSPS has been asked to assist with the effort of providing companies that are interested in retaining a student and supporting the intern program. Ideally, students will be looking for locations that are close to their home. Therefore having companies that are interested and located across Louisiana will be important. Please use the following link to complete an interest survey and let LSPS know of your interest and support for the program. All provided information will be maintained in an LSPS database which will be shared with NICHOLLS State University.

This program represents the culmination of years of work from a team of dedicated committee members from across the state. It is now incumbent for members of the surveying profession and LSPS as a whole to provide support in whatever capacities needed to make this program successful to meet the future needs of Louisiana. The Board of Directors have created an Education Committee to assist the program, but every member of LSPS should stay alert to support it. The web site will endeavor to provide information relative to the program, its needs, and to recognize those whom support it.

THIBODAUX – Nicholls State University recently accepted a donation from Morris and Sandra Hebert of Houma to establish a $100,000 endowed professorship in the university’s new geomatics degree program, announced Dr. Rebecca L. Tucker, director of Development at Nicholls.

Nicholls State University recently accepted a $60,000 donation from the family of the late T. Baker Smith to establish a $100,000 endowed professorship in the university’s new Geomatics Degree program, announced Dr. Rebecca L. Tucker, NSU director of Development.
