INTRODUCTION
This Report is being prepared in the electronic form so that it can be transmitted to members and posted on the website www.lsps.net. This report covers the ongoing activities of the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS) and its affiliated state organizations. The format of this report will be unlike the previous reports. I will include the "Day Reports" from the NSPS Board of Governors and the NSPS Board of Directors.
It was noted that the various Governor reports were at times editorialized and therefore a motion was made and approved that all governors should submit as part of their report these "Day Reports". The benefits to me is that this shortens somewhat the report I will be sending for the remains of my tenure as NSPS Governor of Louisiana. Please be aware that Adobe Reader 7.0 will be required to view the reports.

Friday, April 21, 2006, Orlando, FL
8:00am - 12:00pm
NSPS Membership Development Committee Meeting
There have been some significant areas of increase of involvement which indicates that we may have turned a corner with professionals in providing benefits that draw new members. Significant with this is the new insurance program which has seen up to a 8 times benefit to members in terms of cost savings. The insurance program covers all lines of insurance, i.e., health, life, auto, home, business, liability, etc.
3:00pm - 5:00pm
NSPS Public Relations Committee
I attended this meeting we discussed a number of items relative to the web site, Boy Scout Merit Badge, and particularly the NSPS Geocache program we wish to get started and announce on Surveyors Week 2007.
Saturday, April 22, 2006 Orlando, FL
8am - 5pm
During the Day I visited the NSPS Executives Forum. I also visited the NSPS Education Committee during the afternoon along with some of the Regional Meetings in my efforts to be sure that Motions for the NSPS BOG meeting would be delivered in digital format so that they could be shown by overhead screen to the BOG.
6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
I joined in the NSPS 25TH Anniversary Gala and was installed as the NSPS BOG Secretary.
Evening
I joined with the AREA 3 and 4 Governors for dinner and conversation at a nearby restaurant.
Sunday, April 23, 2006 Orlando, FL
8:30 am - 5:00 pm
NSPS Board of Governors and Board of Directors Joint Meetings and Reports
This was my first day as Board of Secretary. I used a digital recorder and the Computer recorder as a back up to catch the proceedings of the meeting. This proved to be a good measure as the microphone had a mute switch which had been inadvertently turned on during the proceedings. Lunch was provided so that we would not have to leave our meeting facilities.
In the evening, I again had dinner with a few governors and upon return to my room I spent until 2 AM preparing the NSPS BOG Day report that is in the link below in preparation for the NSPS Board of Directory Meeting.

NSPS Board of Directors Meeting
It is with great appreciation that Dean Scott, Past NSPS BOG Secretary assisted me in this meeting. The exchanges are much faster and harder to capture than the Board of Governors meeting. A number of guests were present at this meeting including GITA and other organizations which NSPS and ACSM wish to partner in the 2008 Convention. For a complete report on this meeting refer to the Day report in the following link.

DAY
I originally intended this to be a day off. Instead I visited some of the seminars and the exhibits. Due to the coming weeks schedule I filled the day primarily with listening to the digital recordings of the Board of Directors meeting and preparing the Day Report for same. You can find the day report in the link under Monday, April 24.
Wednesday, April 26, 2006 Orlando, FL
This was a travel day to Ground Zero, Slidell, La.
NSPS INITIATIVES THAT NEED MEMBER INVOLVEMENT OR SUPPORT
JOINT GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS COMMITTEE REPORT (JGAC)
This committee is involved and has a number of successes to outline. Please support NSPS and this important committee in the work it does on behalf of our profession.
I have asked and continue to remind you that if you have an item of interest support the national efforts of lobbying by contributing to the Pac in terms of monies and goods that c an be used at the annual auction in the Spring.
SUPPORT NSPS AND JGAC PAC
Members of the legislature do NOT consider meeting with public or professions unless they see contributions from an organization such as our PAC. The Auction is the only way that our PAC has successfully raised funds. It can not be stressed enough that NSPS looks after professional surveyor interest through the JGAC with funds that are many time Some issues that are vitally important to Surveyors is the disposition of whether are classified as Laborers or Professionals by Government entities. JGAC works with limited resources to keep this from occurring.
Joint Government Affairs Committee is now updating every two weeks on the web site. NSPS is VERY ACTIVE looking after our best interest with the limited resources it has.

NSPS ADOPTS NEW INSURANCE PROGRAM
The testimonials continue to come in on this new insurance program. Things are being said such as "For every $1 I spent on joining NSPS I receive $8 in return!"
Indeed some would say you are just being foolish not belonging to NSPS for the returns it now pays.
Heck, don't YOU want to save money?
Personal appeal to NSPS Members of LSPS
With this Report, I am announcing my intentions to run for the Area 4 Director position of the NSPS Board of Directors. It has been a distinct pleasure to be in your service for these past 4 years representing Louisiana and working with Surveyors across this country who sacrifice unbelievably for the profession they love. To members of NSPS within the state I request your consideration and your vote if for this position.
