CORS: NGS releases new CORS coordinates

On September 6th 2011, the National Geodetic Survey released new CORS coordinates, velocities and absolute antenna calibration information. The new coordinates are in the IGS08 epoch 2005.00 and NAD 83 (2011, MA11, PA11) epoch 2010.00 reference frames. The Online Positioning User Service (OPUS) web tools will support both the old (ITRF00 and NAD 83 (CORS96) ) and new reference frames until December 31st, 2011.

Beginning on January 1st 2012, OPUS, along with the UFCORS utility will only provide coordinates in the IGS08 and NAD 83 (2011, MA11, PA11) epoch 2010.00 reference frames. Information is available on the NGS OPUS webpage http://www.ngs.noaa.gov/OPUS/ with an additional link that talks about the changes. Use the "revised coordinates" link near the top of the OPUS page for more information about how the new CORS positions were determined.

Sign up for the free "NGS Public News Subscription Service", (which will notify when changes like this happen), delivered via email. There is a sign up link on the right side of the NGS home page at: http://www.ngs.noaa.gov/

For additional information, please contact Dr. Neil Weston at neil.d.weston@noaa.gov.
